A commissioning checklist is the set of checks that proves an installed system — HVAC, electrical distribution, fire alarm, a process line, a whole building — is complete, safe and performs as designed before it is handed over to the people who will operate it. Commissioning sits between installation and handover, and it is where drawings meet reality: valves installed the wrong way round, sensors wired to the wrong input, controls that were never configured. Each line should name the system and component, the check to perform, the expected value or condition, the measured result, pass or fail, and who did it on what date. A tick without a value is not evidence — record the airflow, the insulation resistance reading, the setpoint. Group the lines by system rather than by trade, because the client accepts systems, and a system that is 95% commissioned is not yet usable.
Do not start dynamic commissioning until pre-commissioning is signed off. Energising a system with incomplete static checks is how equipment gets damaged and people get hurt.

- Confirm installation against drawings: units, ductwork, dampers, access panels, labels.
- Check electrical supply, isolation, rotation direction and overload settings.
